My WhatsApp number was banned or blocked: what should I do?
First read the reason WhatsApp shows, then request a review from the block screen or Meta's business support. Avoid opening many new numbers: it makes things worse.
A block is stressful, especially when customers write to that number. Here is the safest approach, in order.
1. Read the exact message
WhatsApp usually shows that the account is blocked or restricted, sometimes with a reason. Write it down: it guides your reply.
2. Request a review
- On an app number: use the “Request a review” or “Contact support” button on the block screen.
- On an account linked to the official API: open WhatsApp Manager (Meta Business), check your number's status and quality rating, then contact Meta business support.
- Explain calmly what your business does, that you reply to customers who wrote to you, and what you are changing.
3. Do not work around it
Buying ten numbers to keep going, or using unofficial tools, increases the risk of further blocks and can weaken your case. It is better to fix the cause.
4. Restart on healthy foundations
Once your account is restored, apply the good practices in “How to avoid a WhatsApp Business ban”: consent, useful messages, respect for STOP requests.
To be honest: nobody can guarantee an account will be restored, the decision belongs to Meta. Using the official API does reduce unpleasant surprises, though.
Updated 17 October 2026. Meta's rules change: if in doubt, check WhatsApp Business's official documentation.
